Preparing for a fitness event is just as important as taking part! The most important aims in exercise preparation are to provide your body with enough fuel and water to complete the task, remain injury-free, and recover swiftly.

The following information is to help you prepare for the event, avoid injury, ensure you make it to the finish line, and most importantly…enjoy the ride. We'll continue to add information to this page in the lead up to the 2018 MSWA Ocean Ride, so check back regularly for updates.

Bib Collection

The following times and dates are available for pre-event bib collection. We strongly encourage all participants to take advantage of this option - this is an easy and relaxed way for you to pick up your bib and will help you avoid the queues on the morning of the Ride.

If you have not picked up your bib from MSWA prior to event day, it will be available at the start line for you to collect. The Bib Collection desk at Fremantle for 30km, 50km, 70km and 100km riders will be open from 5:45am, while the Bib Collection desk at Hillarys for the 10km Family Ride will be open from 7:30am.

Ride bibs cannot be mailed out and must be picked up in person. However, if you are in a team, you’re welcome to nominate one person to pick up bibs for the whole team. If you have quite a large team and will be coming in to collect everyone’s bibs, please let us know in advance by emailing

Please note, to be eligible to collect your bib, you must have reached the $100 minimum fundraising requirement.

The Local Spokesman

Providing mechanical support for the 2018 MSWA Ocean Ride is Kyle from The Local Spokesman!

The Local Spokesman is a fully equipped mobile bicycle workshop, and will be on-hand at the start line in Fremantle as well as roaming along the course, to assist you with any small mechanical issues that arise on the day.

However, if you're wanting to make sure your bike is ready to go for event day, we would recommend booking in a service with Kyle today! You can reach The Local Spokesman on Facebook and via their website.

Training Rides

The Perth Cycling Group (PCG) - formerly the Perth Integrated Health Cycling Group (PIHCG) – are joining us again in 2018 as the Event Managers for the MSWA Ocean Ride.

Apart from their well-known array of cycling events, PCG are also the oldest and most established Aust Cycle training school in Western Australia. Boasting 20 years of expertise in cycling training, they will be offering a series of SIX training rides in preparation for the MSWA Ocean Ride.

These sessions will be held at various locations along the 2018 courses, to help riders orientate to the event. Specific details relating to each training session will be released 3 days before the appointed training ride date, and this will include confirmation of the time, location and other specific requirements.
